#MotorTalkMonday – why won’t my motor start?
There’s nothing more frustrating than a motor that won’t start when you need it to. So, what could be causing the issue? And what should you check first?
Don’t panic! Sometimes it’s a simple fix. Here are a few common issues you should look for:
1) Blown fuse – visually inspect the fuse or test it with a multimeter and replace it if needed
2) Tripped breaker – ensure that the circuit breaker is in the “on” position and hasn’t tripped due to an overload
3) Faulty starting capacitor – if the motors hums but doesn’t start, the capacitor could be to blame
4) Loose wiring – check the wiring to ensure that nothing is loose or damaged
While these aren’t the only possible causes, they’re a great starting point. If you have checked everything and your motor still won’t start, it might be time to call in the experts — like us!
