This week’s Motor Talk Monday subject: is there a “front” and “back” of the motor?
We often hear “front” and “back” when speaking with customers on identifying parts for motors. “Front” to a customer is usually the “back” to the motor manufacturer (and vice versa).
It’s important to specify “drive end,” “shaft end,” or “pulley end,” and “non–drive end,” “non–shaft end,” “non-pulley end,” or “opposite–drive end” when speaking to a motor manufacturer to make sure you are getting the correct parts. Take a look at this graphic to see a visual of what we mean!
