The Opportunity
ABB District Office of Tulsa is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive new business growth for ABB Baldor-Reliance motors across Oklahoma. This is a hunter role focused on identifying new opportunities, influencing specifications, and expanding ABB’s presence with OEMs, end users, and strategic partners.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in the field, builds relationships early in the project lifecycle, and enjoys turning white space into long-term business.
Your Responsibilities
• Proactively identify and develop new OEM, EPC, and end-user opportunities across Oklahoma
• Drive early engagement with engineering, maintenance, and decision-makers to influence motor specifications
• Build and manage a strong pipeline of new opportunities from concept through order
• Position ABB/Baldor motor solutions based on value, performance, and lifecycle cost
• Collaborate closely with inside sales, applications engineering, and channel partners
• Support pricing strategy, margin discipline, and forecast accuracy
• Represent ABB Tulsa at customer sites, industry events, and trade shows
What You Bring
• 10+ years of experience in industrial sales or business development
• Proven success in a hunter / new-business role
• Strong understanding of industrial motors, rotating equipment, or related power transmission products
• Experience working with OEMs, distributors, and end users
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and credibly
• Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a field role
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with ABB or Baldor-Reliance motor products
• Knowledge of NEMA motors, severe duty, explosion-proof, or engineered motor solutions
• Familiarity with Oklahoma industrial markets (HVAC, oil & gas, water/wastewater, aggregates, manufacturing)
• CRM experience (Salesforce or similar)
• Combination of technical (engineering) and sales experience preferred
• Ability to translate engineering requirements into value-driven solutions
